The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) is the central government authority responsible for developing and implementing state policies, legislation, and planning related to environmental protection, climate change mitigation and adaptation, reduction of environmental pollution and degradation, as well as promoting sustainable development and green transition.
Mission Statement
To ensure ecological balance, protect and utilize natural resources in a sustainable manner, and establish a policy and regulatory foundation that promotes climate change mitigation, climate resilience, and a stable, green, and sustainable development pathway.
Priorities
o Develop and Implement Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Policies Focus on creating and ensuring the execution of robust climate change mitigation and adaptation policies to address the impacts of climate change and reduce vulnerabilities. o Promote Science, Innovation, Green Technology, and Climate Financing Foster the development of green technologies, encourage innovation in sustainable practices, and secure climate financing to support environmental projects and initiatives. o Protect the Environment, Reduce Pollution, and Enhance Recovery Prioritize the protection of ecosystems, reduce pollution levels, and strengthen measures for waste recovery and environmental rehabilitation. o Ensure the Implementation of International Treaties and Agreements, and Expand Cooperation Strengthen Mongolia's commitment to multilateral environmental agreements and treaties, while enhancing collaboration with global and regional partners to achieve environmental goals.
